Butternut Regime
Butternut Regime. This small to medium-sized tree is. Butternut trees are also called white walnut trees because they have pale gray bark and are related to the black walnut tree ( Juglans nigra) and other members of the walnut family.
Butternut was a term applied to inhabitants of the southern parts of Ohio, Illinois and Indiana in the early to mid-nineteenth century. When the nuts are done curing, you can hear them rattle in the shell. When starting squash seed, start indoors in cooler climates and transplant out once all danger of frost has passed.

Butternut (Juglans cinerea), also called white walnut or oilnut, grows rapidly on well-drained soils of hillsides and streambanks in mixed hardwood forests.
The main threat to this species is Butternut Canker (Ophiognomonia clavigignenti-juglandacearum) which is a fungus that affects the cambial layer of Butternut. This curing will take several weeks. Aptly named, they're a lot like conventional walnuts but without any of the characteristic bitterness.
